HIGHLIGHTED NEWS
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a development roadmap for the tourism sector aimed at achieving double-digit growth. For 2026, the sector targets welcoming 25–27 million international visitors and 150–153 million domestic tourists, while generating total revenue of VND 1.125–1.23 quadrillion. Looking toward 2030, the plan outlines three scenarios—low, medium, and high—targeting 35–38 million, 40–45 million, and 45–50 million international visitors, respectively. Under the high-growth scenario, the sector aims for approximately 160 million domestic tourist arrivals, total revenue of USD 80–90 billion, and a direct contribution of 10–12% to GDP.
JPMorgan is set to launch the GBI-EM Edge in late September, an index tracking nearly USD 330 billion in local-currency government bonds across 26 frontier markets. The Asian market group—comprising primarily Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh—will account for nearly one-third of the index. Notably, even with a maximum weight cap of 8% per country, Vietnam remains among the markets projected to hold the largest weightings. This development could attract increased interest from international investors in Vietnamese bonds.
TRADING STRATEGY
The stock market underwent a correction, retreating to the 1,788.23-point mark amidst liquidity levels exceeding the 20-session average. Market divergence persisted. The VN-Index remained volatile as early selling pressure concentrated on high-beta large-cap sectors—specifically retail, industrial goods and services, real estate, and financial services. Conversely, oil and gas stocks and select VN30 constituents continued to attract capital inflows and provide support to the broader index. Foreign investors returned as strong net buyers. Cautious sentiment and weakened demand left the index vulnerable to fluctuations driven by domestic rumors and international macroeconomic policies. The VN-Index is likely to experience continued oscillation within the 1,770–1,780 support zone in upcoming sessions as it seeks to stabilize cash flow and market trends.
Today, the VN-Index may fluctuate within the 1,770–1,790 point range. Short-term investors might consider concentrating their portfolios, prioritizing stocks with solid fundamentals that are supported by capital inflows. Meanwhile, medium- to long-term investors could continue holding stocks with promising business growth prospects for the second half of 2026.
