To help customers enhance vigilance and prevent the risk of technology attacks, VPS provides information about Social Engineering attacks and recommends some prevention measures.
Social Engineering (non-technical attack) is a form of attack based on exploiting users' psychological weaknesses and social nature regarding information security. Hackers focus on exploiting users' natural habits rather than exploiting system security vulnerabilities to steal information or achieve specific desired purposes.
- To prevent Social Engineering attacks, VPS recommends that customers take the following measures:
- Only access applications, websites, or messages that request personal access rights or financial verification with clear origins (even if sent from acquaintances, as they could be entirely forged).
- Be cautious with links sent via email. Before opening, carefully check the link by hovering over it to determine if the actual link matches the displayed link.
- Refrain from downloading files from unknown senders and unclear reasons for sending.
- Be wary of all prize-winning emails; do not open pop-up windows to receive prizes, vouchers, etc.
- Exercise caution with any content that demands immediate decision-making. Attackers aim to prompt action before rational judgment can be made.
